Former NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson said that Jets head coach Rex Ryan would say some really crazy things to get his team fired up for a game.
Tomlinson claims that Ryan told them one time that he was going to beat up Patriots head coach Bill Belichick before one of their games.
“Rex got in front of us, he said, ‘I’m going to set the tempo today, guys,’ he said, ‘I’m going to set the tempo. When I meet Bill Belichick in the center of the field, I’m going to start it off and punch him in the face,’” Tomlinson recalled on NFL Network, via ProFootballTalk.com.
This is certainly Rex being Rex. He’s the type of person that loves to talk and not back it up.
