Earlier this week former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson was a guest on NBC Sports Talk, and stated that he’d prefer going into the Hall of Fame over winning a Super Bowl.
A source has told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com that the reason the Chargers never won a Super Bowl while Tomlinson was around, is because of his selfish attitude.
“That’s why the Chargers could never win the big one,” the source said, per Florio. “L.T. was selfish and a selfish leader. They had all the talent in the world and should have beaten the Patriots [in 2006], but they couldn’t do it because they had too many guys like L.T. and he was the ringleader.”
“LaDanian was a great player, but he was never a champion and he never behaved like one,” said the source.
The game of football is the ultimate team sport and if someone is only out for themselves, they won’t be very successful.
