New York Giants rookie running back Da’Rel Scott has spent this offseason learning from future Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson.  Scott grew up a big fan of Tomlinson’s.  But since working out with him,  he hasn’t mentioned how big of a fan he is.

“I didn’t tell him that,” said Scott. “We’re kind of like buds now. I can’t tell another man that, so I keep that to myself.”

“It was just a blessing, just having him help me out. He’s a great back, a future Hall of Famer. I was just very blessed to be there.”

Since Scott was drafted in the seventh round he will have a hard time catching on to the Giants playbook and of coarse the lockout will likely end up hurting his growth as a rookie.

“I’m not focusing on that. I’m giving it to God right now and letting him take care of it,” Scott said. “I’m just trying to take the negatives and make them into positives right now.”

Scott has a chance at making the Giants roster as the teams fourth running back on the depth chart or he could possibly take DJ Ware’s spot.  Ware has been hyped quite a bit since Derrick Ward left the Giants and he hasn’t shown me anything whenever he’s had an opportunity to run the ball.

In the end the only way Scott will make the Giants’ final roster is if he can contribute on special teams.
